Christkidlmarkt

The Christkindlmarkt Christmas market at Rathausplatz is one of the most famous in Vienna, with numerous (around 100) festive stalls. In the adjacent park, you can see Christmas installations, including the famous “Tree of Hearts.” The market offers plenty of entertainment for children. In 2024, it will take place from November 16 to December 26, with the ice rink open for an extended period.

Weihnachtsdorf

Weihnachtsdorf on Maria-Theresien-Platz is a charming Christmas market located between two museums (Kunsthistorisches & Naturhistorisches museums) and the Maria Theresa monument. The market features around 70 stalls offering crafts, arts, and food, creating a wonderful atmosphere for those who enjoy celebrating in historic locations. In 2024, the market will take place from November 13 to December 31 and may transform into Silvesterdorf after Christmas. Nearby, you can enjoy classical music concerts at Palais Eschenbach and visit the art and natural history museums.

The Christmas market at Karlsplatz stands out among other festive markets in the city, offering a unique blend of art and Christmas spirit. Located in front of the magnificent Baroque Karlskirche church, this market is known as “Art Advent,” emphasizing local art and crafts. Around 80 stalls offer unique, high-quality gifts. You can also enjoy organic food and drinks, making it an attractive spot for both adults and children. In 2024, the market will run from November 15 to December 23, and nearby you can enjoy evening Vivaldi concerts.

Stephansplatz

The Christmas market at Stephansplatz can be considered one of the most traditional, despite being one of the newer seasonal markets in Vienna. Located in the heart of the city, it is surrounded by historic buildings, with the majestic St. Stephen’s Cathedral providing an impressive backdrop for the festive events. You’ll find over 40 stalls with Christmas goods, as well as plenty of shops and restaurants. The market will be open from November 8 to December 26, 2024, and nearby you can visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral and enjoy Christmas concerts.

Belvedere

This market is smaller and less crowded than many others, making it an excellent choice for romantic strolls. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit art exhibitions at the palace. Established in 1772, this market offers traditional crafts such as handmade decorations, ceramics, and glass ornaments. Surrounded by historic architecture, fountains, and statues, the market will be open from November 15 to December 23, 2024. Other nearby markets include the Christmas Village on Maria-Theresien-Platz and the University Market. Daily at 4:00 PM, live music fills the air, creating a magical atmosphere for visitors.

Wintermarkt

The Winter Market at the Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel Square is not quite a traditional Christmas market nor entirely a New Year’s one, but it blends both in a unique way. It’s more of a meeting spot to shake off the winter blues while enjoying a warm drink and having fun. Expect a variety of dishes, drinks, and entertainment in the Prater amusement park. Weekly live music performances and many activities for kids make it a family-friendly destination. The market will be open from November 16 to January 6, 2025, bringing joy throughout the winter season.

Officially named Weihnachtsdorf Campus Universität Wien, the market features regional Austrian cuisine and special events for children. In 2024, it will run from November 15 to December 23, with over 40 stalls.

Located near the Freyung Market, Am Hof will host around 70 stalls in 2024 and will be open from November 15 to December 23.
