Thermal Baths and Water Parks: A World of Water Enjoyment

One of the things we always look for when traveling is water activities. We love to relax after a long day or simply escape bad weather, enjoy sauna infusions, and swim in warm water. Sometimes we even change our routes just to get there.

Since we usually travel with the whole family, we generally look for all-weather thermal spas that have at least a couple of slides for the kids. Let me give you a few examples.

Our favorite is Sonnentherme Lutzmannsburg, not far from Vienna. It’s large but cozy, with plenty of hotels around, all connected by an underground corridor. The saunas are somewhat lacking, but everything else is top-notch. The place is designed especially for children, particularly the little ones.

The same type is Therme in Bucharest ( address: Calea Bucureşti 1K, Balotești 077015, Romania), which seems to belong to the same company.

We visited several thermal spas in Austria, and they are all of very high quality. In Vienna, there’s Therme Wien ( address: 14, 1100 Wien, Austria), In Styria, there’s the huge Thermal Spa Loipersdorf (address: Kurbadstraße 14, 1100 Wien, Austria), and nearby is the smaller H2O Hotel-Therme-Resort ( address: Thermenweg 300, 8271 Bad Waltersdorf, Austria). In the Salzburg area, there are several smaller spas that are conveniently included in the local card, such as Erlebnis-Therme Amadé ( address: Thermenplatz 1, 5541 Altenmarkt im Pongau, Austria), Alpentherme Gastein ( address: Senator-Wilhelm-Wilfling-Platz 1, 5630 Bad Hofgastein, Austria ), Felsentherme Bad Gastein ( address: Bahnhofpl. 5, 5640 Bad Gastein, Austria ), and the modest Aqua Salza spa Golling (address: Möslstraße 199, 5440 Golling an der Salzach, Austria).

In Kaprun, there’s the luxurious TAUERN SPA ( address: Tauern Spa Str. 1, 5710 Kaprun, Austria) , and in Tyrol, the impressive AQUA DOME (address: Oberlängenfeld 140, 6444 Oberlängenfeld, Austria) . In Carinthia, there are the more compact KärntenTherme Warmbad-Villach ( address: Kadischenallee 25, 9504 Villach, Austria ) and Therme St. Kathrein (address: Dorfstraße 47, 9546 Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria).

On the border of Germany and Austria are the small but atmospheric Watzmann Therme (address: Bergwerkstraße 54, 83471 Berchtesgaden, Germany) and RupertusTherme (address: Friedrich-Ebert-Allee 21, 83435 Bad Reichenhall, Germany).

In Europe Park, there’s the amazing Rulantica (address: Roland-Mack-Ring 1, 77977 Rust, Germany), and in the Black Forest, there’s Badeparadies Schwarzwald (address: Am Badeparadies 1, 79822 Titisee-Neustadt, Germany), which we haven’t visited yet, just like Tropical Islands (address: Tropical-Islands-Allee 1, 15910 Krausnick-Groß Wasserburg, Germany) near Berlin. However, we have been to the memorable ARRIBA Erlebnisbad & Saunadorf (address: Am Hallenbad 14, 22850 Norderstedt, Germany) near Hamburg.

In Hungary, one of the main attractions of Debrecen is Aquaticum Mediterrán Élményfürdő (address: Debrecen, Nagyerdei park 1, 4032 Hungary), and nearby, there’s an entire village, Hajdúszoboszló, гcentered around mineral springs.

In Krakow, there’s a great water park for kids, Vodniy Park (address: Dobrego Pasterza 126, 31-416 Kraków, Poland), and not far away in Zakopane are Aqua Park Zakopane (address: Jagiellońska 31, 34-500 Zakopane, Poland) and Chochołowska (address: Chochołów 400, 34-513 Witów, Poland). In Gdansk, there are decent water parks in Sopot (address: Zamkowa Góra 5, 81-713 Sopot, Poland) and Reda (address: Morska 5, 84-240 Reda, Poland).

On our list are Budapest’s Aquaworld Resort Budapest (address: Budapest, Íves út 16, 1044 Hungary), Prague’s Aquapalace Prague (address: Pražská 138, 251 01 Čestlice-Říčany u Prahy, Czechia), and Warsaw’s brand-new and largest in Europe, Suntago (address: Nowy Świat 1, 96-300 Wręcza, Poland), plus Druskininkai Aquapark (address: Vilniaus al. 13, Druskininkai, 66119 Druskininkų sav., Lithuania).

In the comments, they recommended Miskolc-Tapolca (address: Miskolc, Pazár István stny. 1, 3519 Hungary). There, you can swim in caves in mineral water with a mild effect, so there are no time restrictions. There are also plenty of outdoor pools, making it fun for both adults and kids. Surrounding the area is a large, beautiful park with pedal boats, club cars, little lakes with pink water lilies, and it transitions into a forest.

In the comments, they also recommended the Račianske Teplice thermal resort in Slovakia.  It is located at an altitude of 415 meters above sea level, 186 km from Bratislava, near the city of Žilina. The balneological complex of the Račianske Teplice thermal resort is situated within the Aphrodite hotel (адрес: Centrum 1, 013 13 Rajecké Teplice, Slovakia), which now bears the name of the entire resort.
