Marche: A Slice of Paradise on the Italian Riviera

Marche – Italian Riviera. Sometimes you get the feeling that you’ve managed to take a bite of paradise.

So, Conero Riviera – is a true paradise for beach lovers and active adventurers. Located not far from the bustling city of Ancona, it offers seclusion and tranquility among picturesque bays and rocky shores.

Here, on the Blue Flag-certified beaches (which means the cleanest beaches in Italy), you can enjoy crystal-clear waters and soft sand. And for adventure enthusiasts, there are plenty of opportunities for diving, snorkeling, hiking, and cycling.

Conero – a mountain rising 500 meters from the sea, is a very picturesque place that attracts thousands of tourists in the summer. The mountain gets its name from the Greek word Komaros – “strawberry tree,” which, by the way, still grows there. On the cape of Mount Conero (CONERO) are the towns of Sirolo, Numana, and Marcelli.

We wanted to explore the secret spots of Conero from the water, especially since some of these places are unreachable from the land. For this, we took a three-hour sea tour from the tourist port of Numana with Numana Durasse Boat. A fast, new boat for 12 people; besides us, there was another Italian family with whom we quickly became friends.

The owner, Francesco, is a good guide and quite the joker, and he handles the boat as if he was born with it. By the way, his brother owns a fantastic restaurant in Numana, La Torre (address: Via della Torre, 1, 60026 Numana AN, Italy). They say it’s best not to show up without a reservation made at least a day in advance, as it’s always fully booked.

The time flew by unnoticed, and we visited the most inaccessible parts of the coast – the most famous being, of course, the Two Sisters rock formation, Mezzavalle, Portonovo, and the unforgettable Scoglio del Trave – a natural pool surrounded by rocks, with healing mud that everyone covered themselves in, and the statue of Madonna de Trave. We also explored several hidden spots and famous beaches.

We stopped twice to swim in the clear, transparent water at the perfect temperature. Luckily, we took the evening tour – it wasn’t too hot, and the view of the sunset over the sea was a gorgeous bonus. Great music, chilled white wine, and jokes from Francesco all added to the atmosphere.

Conero left an impression that will last a lifetime.
